Watercolor workshop with Dylan Pierce

Workshop limited to 18 students. Dylan will teach his layering technique for watercolor portraits, including how to make life-like skin tones with juxtaposition, finding and accentuating key edges to most effectively convey the persons character and lead the viewers eye. And how to create dimension using principles of contrast and planes. This intermediate to advanced class will build on fundamental watercolor techniques and go beyond. This painting includes how to make artistic design choices using: • The elements of art • Lost and found edges • Complementary grays • Juxtaposing colors Also we will use the essential techniques of watercolor: • Transparent glazing • Timing of wetness • Dry into damp vs. wet into wet • Matching wetness • Warm to cool color theory • Negative painting
