Okavango Lookout

15" X 22"

Cheetahs are one of the more rare cats to find. They are usually solitary or live with one other. This watercolor shows the cheetah on a termite mound which is a characteristic way of the cheetah. They love to stand on hills and mounds to scan the plains and survey the opportunities and challenges they may have before them. I love cheetahs because of their traits but I have not painted many because of how rare they are to encounter. They're strength is in their speed, but they're not very strong to defend themselves. They prefer to avoid confrontation so often times when lion, leopards, or hyenas come near the cheetahs dinner, the cheetah will just let them have it. I guess they know that they are no match to intimidate them. The cheetahs don't have a growl or roar but more like a bark that they use to communicate to fellow cheetahs. This one is from the Okavango Delta in Botswanna.

Passively Waiting

30" X 30"

Along the streets, humid smog filled air of Haiti sit lone mothers and fathers.  Families survival depends on them. Haiti has lost much of it's countries industry. Most of the people make a  way to work on the street or market selling imported foods and products, or they offer their skills of repair and handiwork. Many of the people sit and wait for the days end hoping to at least make their usual two dollars a day, and when the mothers and fathers can't afford the bare essentials they will sometimes eat c
lay chips to fill their stomachs and do their best to nurish their kids first.

Stoic Elephant

22" X 30"

During the evening hours of the fading light this lone bachelor elephant was found eating roots and branches. The elephants are often encountered while they are eating because of the huge quantity of nutrients they must eat to keep energized their 12,000LB bodies.  They like to wrap their trunks around small indefensable trees and pull them up to eat the roots. They do not retreat when someone drives up to watch, instead they remain calm or charge usually a mock charge! This elephant looked like he was "in musk." We found him in near Satara, Kruger Park, South Africa.

Joy Complete

11" x 14"

This family lives in the most humble of conditions as so many billions of people do around the world  . They are full of joy, they have gratitude for the life and the good things they do have. Even though often times they are very poor and lack the basic provisions they need, they are full of so much love and joy. I have been blessed myself by their gentle, humble, kind, and loving spirit. It is wonderful to see how grateful they are when they do receive help from others. It is truly more blessed to give than to receive.
