Art has always been my passion!  I love to draw and paint.  I also enjoy music and finger picking the guitar.  Reading, roller blading, hiking and mountain biking are great pastimes.  Nevertheless, my greatest pleasure is painting in watercolor!  My oeuvre is largely animals, people and still lifes.

As long as I can remember, I have loved watercolor. I started painting when I was about eleven.  I continue to be passionate about this amazing medium.  The versatility and power of watercolors to convey emotion, and to communicate my vision to bring subjects to life, makes this my favorite method of painting!  Water colors are ideal for rendering the distinctive details of sculptural elements.  As I paint, I often think about God; how we are made in his image and reflect his creativity. The beauty of God’s varied wonders motivates me - everything that lives, crawls and breathes in our glorious world is inspiring - wildlife, plants, and people - especially children!

Several years ago, I studied with Chris Di Domizio (Di Domizio’s Art School, Sandy Springs, GA).  After studying with Chris, my painting became richer and more emotional - I felt a renewed joy in creating mood and meaning in my art.  Chris’ teaching has continued to be a major influence on my work.

Several years ago, I went to Africa.  That experience was so profound it continues to remain the visual inspiration for many of my paintings.  Africa is so extraordinary with the most beautiful, and astonishing variety of wildlife on earth.  Animals I never thought I would see, was thrilling! Yet, meeting the people of Africa deeply affected me.  Despite living in often dreadful conditions – children orphaned by AIDs, begging on the streets, adults trying to survive day by day – the Africans were gentle, friendly and kind.  It was a humbling experience just to compare their lives to ours!
